Just plugged in a newly purchased USB external hard drive 1TB - Stunned with my Ubuntu OS simply did not detect!

Steps to resolve the issue:
Disconnect the drive
$rmmod uas
Create a new file and like :
$cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-uas.conf
blacklist uas;
Connect the drive it simply works! Voila... ;)
